What is the Full Form of Wi-Fi?
A common misconception is that Wi-Fi is short for Wireless Fidelity. Wi-Fi is actually a trademarked IEEE 802.11x term. It was coined by a marketing firm as a catchy name for the technology and was not originally meant to be an acronym for Wireless Fidelity. But this notion has now become widely accepted.
Wi-Fi uses ISM radio frequencies to transfer data to an electronic gadget or link it to the Internet. A WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) system is its basis. Wi-Fi allows other systems to stay in touch with electronic devices over a wireless network.
Wi-Fi devices are focused on one of the IEEE-developed 802.11 standards and are supported by the Wi-Fi alliance. It provides a simple way to establish a wireless network connection.
Applications of Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi can be used to create a hotspot within a distance of 66 feet (20 meters). It is less secure than wired communication because an attacker does not need a physical connection to use Wi-Fi.
