Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the required educational qualifications for the respective teaching level.
For Primary Level (Class 1–5)
Candidates must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
- A valid teacher training qualification such as:
- BTC / D.El.Ed
- B.El.Ed
- Equivalent course
- Minimum 50% marks (relaxation as per rules)
- Final-year candidates are also eligible
For Upper Primary Level (Class 6–8)
Candidates must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks
- B.Ed / BTC / B.El.Ed or equivalent qualification
- Candidates with Special Education (RCI recognised) are also eligible
- Candidates with 4-year integrated teaching courses can apply
UPTET Qualifying Marks
UPTET qualifying marks require General category candidates to score at least 60% (90/150) and reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-S/PwD) 55% (82/150) to pass, according to Adda247, Testbook, and Shiksha.com. Passing ensures eligibility for further recruitment but does not guarantee a job.

UPTET Paper 1 Exam Pattern (Primary Teacher)
UPTET Paper 1 (Primary Teacher) exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for 150 marks, with a total duration of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). The exam comprises five subjects—Child Development & Pedagogy, two languages, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies—with no negative marking.
