A Sukhoi fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Tuesday, reports news agency PTI. The pilot and co-pilot managed to eject safely, as confirmed by Special Inspector General of Nashik Range, DR Karale.

The crash took place in a field near Shirasgaon village, the IPS officer informed. The aircraft, piloted by Wing Commander Bokil and his second-in-command Biswas, fell in a field in Shirasgaon village of Niphad tehsil at around 1:20 pm.
Despite the accident, both the pilots suffered only minor injuries and were immediately shifted to HAL hospital. The aircraft caught fire after the collision, but rescue teams were able to douse the flames.
According to the official, the wreckage of the aircraft is now spread over a radius of 500 metres. Teams from the Indian Air Force, HAL Security and HAL Technical Unit have visited the spot for further investigation.
